Great weekend in the Lakes despite the less than perfect weather. Scafell Pike via the Corridor route was our destination on Saturday. Wet and windy from Lingmell Col was the order of the day, with superb views for several metres! On Sunday we had a walk up Skiddaw via Ullock Pike and Carl Side, returning over White Horse. It stayed dry for most of the day, however visibility was on a par with Saturday. |
Another good day out today. From Hawse End we took the following route: Cat Bells-Maiden Moor-High Spy-Dale Head-Robinson. Rather wet at first but it brightened up as the day went on. So much so, we were able to sit outside the pub at Portinscale. |
Took a group up Scafell Pike today. From Seathwaite we ascended via the corridor route, then returned via Grains Gill. It was a very, very wet day. And very windy. However everyone enjoyed the day. Or appeared to! |
Great day doing the Coledale Horseshoe today, with N&PMC. Warm and sunny all day, with excellent views all round. Had a nice pint of Snecklifter at The Royal Oak when we finished. |
Had a walk up Blencathra today. From Scales we followed the path to Scales Tarn, then along Sharp Edge. After a lunch break on top, we returned to the car via Scales Fell. Other than being a bit breezy at times, it was a fine day with excellent views. |
Another good day out today on Scafell Pike. We followed the Corridor Route to Lingmell col, continued on to Scafell Pike and returned to Seathwaite via Grains Gill. Quite warm, however the rain was heavy from Lingmell col onwards.

Lovely low level walk in Borrowdale today. Starting at Grange we followed the Allerdale Ramble to Seatoller, taking in Castle Crag on the way. After a lunch break, we continued to Stonethwaite, Rosthwaite then via Puddingstone Bank to Watendlath. We then followed Watendlath Beck and returned to Grange via High Lodore. The weather was very kind with blue sky and sunshine all the way. |
Spent a wet and windy day on the Fairfield Horseshoe today. Visibility was great for the first half hour and the last ten minutes! In between it went from poor to very poor, especially on Fairfield. Never mind, everyone enjoyed the day, particularly the refreshments afterwards in The Golden Rule. |
Great weekend in Wasdale with a few members of N&PMC. On Friday afternoon, we intended having a walk up Scafell via Lord's Rake. However there was a large amount of snow and ice that was impossible to cross safely, so we about turned and went up Scafell Pike instead. On Saturday, we went up Pillar via the high level traverse, which provided an excellent day out. The weather was superb throughout, blue sky, sunshine and superb views. Rehydration took place in The Wasdale Head Inn. |
